Expanding a crypto wallet from ownership to experience
Users could purchase NFT media from external platforms using GeroWallet, but had to return to those platforms to consume it. I designed an integrated media experience that brought playback directly into the wallet.
01 · THE PRODUCT GAP
Purchase and consumption happened across different products.
GeroWallet could be used to purchase NFT media on external platforms, and the owned asset appeared in the wallet. But ownership was where the wallet experience ended.

THE DISCONNECT
The wallet supported ownership, but users still had to leave it to experience the media they had purchased.
02 · THE OPPORTUNITY
What if users could experience NFT media where they already owned it?
Reduce product switching
Users should not need to return to another platform simply to use an asset they already own.
Extend wallet utility
The wallet could become more than a place to hold assets by supporting what users wanted to do with them.
Create ongoing value after purchase
Media playback creates a reason to return to the wallet after the transaction is complete.

03 · PRODUCT DECISION
01
Bring playback into the wallet instead of creating another destination.
The key product decision was not simply how to design a media player. It was deciding where the media experience should live.
ALTERNATIVE
Separate media destination
A dedicated product could offer more room for media, but it would preserve the same fundamental problem: ownership and consumption would remain split across experiences.
CHOSEN DIRECTION
Decision-first
Users could access the media associated with their NFT directly from the product already holding the asset.
Keep ownership and use connected
The asset and the experience it unlocks stay in one context.
Reduce unnecessary switching
Users no longer need another platform simply for playback.
Expand the role of the wallet
The product moves from transaction and storage toward ongoing utility.
04 · DESIGNING THE EXPERIENCE
02
Make consuming NFT media feel like a natural extension of owning it.
The redesigned journey connects the asset users already own with the action they want to take next.

Media entry point
Owned media remains connected to the wallet instead of becoming a separate product experience.
Audio playback
Users can listen to NFT media directly from the wallet while keeping content and asset context together.
Video playback
The same experience model extends to video without requiring a separate media product.
PRODUCT PRINCIPLE
If the wallet represents what a user owns, it should also help them experience the value of what they own.
05 · MONETIZATION OPPORTUNITY
03
Extend the media experience into a premium access model.
Once playback became part of the wallet, the feature also created an opportunity to explore premium access without interrupting the core ownership experience.

Start with product value
Playback solves the user problem first; monetization follows the value created by the feature.
Add a premium access path
The design introduced a way to gate additional media access within the wallet experience.
Connect user value and business value
The same feature that makes owned media more useful also creates a potential monetization path for the product.
06 · OUTCOME
From a wallet that stored NFT media to one that helped users experience it.
CONCLUSION
The project connected purchase, ownership and consumption more closely by bringing media playback into GeroWallet, while also creating a path to explore premium access.
